nomacs is a free image viewer, which is running on multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, Mac, OS/2). nomacs is capable of reading the most common file formats (jpg, tif, png, tif, gif, bmp), but also rare file format like raw images of multiple camera manufacturers and psd files are supported.
Furthermore nomacs is able to browse images in zip or MS Office files and can also extract the image files to a directory. Metadata stored with the image can also easily be displayed and you can add notes to images which can also be read by other software. A thumbnail preview of the current folder is also included as well as a file explorer panel which allows fast switching of the current directory. Within a directory you can apply a file filter, so that only images are displayed which filenames fullfill a certain regular expression. nomacs uses an internal cacher which prefetches images for a faster switching of images.
Additionally nomacs also includes image manipulation methods for adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, gamma, exposure. nomacs also includes a pseudo color function which allows a fast creation of false color images. One specialty of nomacs is that user can synchronize multiple instances. With this features you can easily compare images by zooming and/or panning at the exact same position in the image or even by overlaying them with different opacities.
